The Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation delivers the proceeds to the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology “Fundación José Soriano Ramos”

The Universitat Jaume I-Company Foundation (FUE-UJI) held a charity futsal match on May 11 that brought together a hundred people, members of the university community, representatives of companies and institutions linked to the Foundation and members of the collective of the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology “Fundación José Soriano Ramos”, beneficiary of the collection.

“Thanks to this event we have achieved a double objective: on the one hand, to promote the link between the Universitat Jaume I and the business community through a sporting activity, and on the other, to raise funds for research on the benefits of physical activity in oncology patients,” said Carlos Cabrera, executive president of the FUE-UJI.

The British School of Vila-real has been the main collaborator in this initiative, which has been sponsored by the companies MACER and GRUPO PAMESA. The fundraising, more than 2,120 euros, obtained with voluntary donations from attendees, the sale of merchandising material and contributions made by participating companies and entities, was given to the Chair of Physical Activity and Oncology “Fundación José Soriano Ramos” at the end of the event.

The event took place in the sports hall of the Universitat Jaume I with a sports and leisure program that was inaugurated by Mamen Pastor, Vice-rector for Students and Healthy Living of the UJI, and Carlos Cabrera, executive president of the FUE-UJI .

The day included a mixed-team futsal match, in the children's category and another in the adult category, a magic show by the Magician Carolus, a gift raffle and solidarity sale of merchandising, as well as the presentation of trophies and medals to the teams.

“This has been a day aligned with one of the purposes of the UJI Comprehensive Health Plan: to enhance the University as an environment that promotes health and well-being for the university community and society as a whole. Today we have enjoyed a solidarity, intergenerational action aligned with sporting values: equity, perseverance, teamwork, inclusion and respect,” commented Mamen Pastor, Vice-Rector for Students and Healthy Living at the Universitat Jaume I.

To carry out this activity, the FUE-UJI had the support of the organizations of its Board of Trustees, especially the Castellón City Council, the Vila-real City Council and the Vall d'Uixó City Council, through contributions from merchandising material and players for the teams.
