The Universitat Jaume I has launched the Microcreds Plan for the development of university microcredentials, a state plan promoted by the Spanish  Ministry of Universities, which is funded by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU programme and will be developed in the Valencian Community by public universities.

«The Microcreds Plan is aimed at improving vocational integration, which is why micro credentials have a practical and specific approach, with an active methodology. The aim of these training actions is to respond to the need for updating future occupational profiles and re-qualification of active workers», explained Isabel García Izquierdo, Vice-Rector of Studies and Continuing Training.

The microcredentials of the Plan are aimed at acquiring specific knowledge, skills and competences required in the Valencian labour market. The target audience is the adult population, in particular people aged 25-64 who are seeking vocational retraining or belong to specific groups covered by the plan.

The plan of the Universitat Jaume I, managed through the Fundación Universitat Jaume I - Empresa, initially consists of 25 short-term training actions to facilitate intensive and targeted training in different forms; the hybrid or virtual to promote flexibility. The topics offered are diverse, related to artificial intelligence, communication, project management, data protection and cybersecurity, or economics.

It should be noted that, in addition to this specific programme financed at European level and which will run until 2026, UJI has opted for microcredentials since 2022 and has offered more than twenty training proposals with this format, through which more than 500 people have improved their skills.
