12 - May - 2022

On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 May 2022 in the town of Les Coves de Vinromà

Within the framework of the Feria Destaca, consolidated as a benchmark in the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge in the Valencian Community and in collaboration with the Pacto Territorial para el desarrollo local y el empleo de la Plana Alta Nord and the Coves de Vinromà City Council On Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13, a conference on innovation in the agri-food field will take place, especially aimed at farmers, beekeepers, stockbreeders, merchants and other people linked to the many activities of these sectors.

The purpose of these conferences is to stimulate agri-food activity in the northern high plain area through innovation, entrepreneurship, the introduction of new techniques and technological trends in the fields of research and the environment.

The sessions will revolve around three methodological axes:

1. Panels on experience and/or debates

The conference highlights contemplate four thematic axes to be dealt with within the program of panels on experience and/or debates.

  • a. Innovations in the agricultural field. Agricultural innovation is a catalyst for growth and well-being in the countryside. Promoting innovation is vital to face the challenges of agriculture and the development of the territories, adaptation to climate change and the improvement of food security and the quality of life of the inhabitants. In this context, it seeks to address the problem of the abandonment of crops. Find incentives to mitigate the depopulation of rural areas and encourage the agricultural use of abandoned land. A valid approach that will be taken into account is the revaluation of native crops and the valorization of alternative crops.
  • b. Food and dairy processing. The agri-food sector generates wealth around an activity that not only produces goods for consumption, but also maintains a close relationship with society through food and its fundamental role in people's lives and health, in addition to the importance that the sector has in the rural world, natural heritage, landscape and gastronomy. Therefore, it seeks to enhance the value of olive and carob crops, natural sweetener species, exotic species and medicinal species, among other crops. Dairy products present a valuable economic future for the area and therefore interesting initiatives are being taken into account in terms of their transformation and marketing.
  • c. Hybrid solutions between technology and agriculture. The latest technological advances in the agricultural sector not only seek to make the farmer's day-to-day life easier, but also to respond to the main challenges facing agriculture, such as improving and increasing productivity and reducing environmental impact. It is about the search for innovative solutions and tools on the use and valorization of land and crops, such as photovoltaic technology, drones, sensors, laser technology, mobile applications and robotics, among many others.
  • d. Decentralized transformation of manure and circular economy. Pig farms generate a high amount of waste. The management of these slurries is not easy at all and has become an environmental problem due to the fact that many soils face saturation, which implies the potential abrasion of the soil and the contamination of aquifers and groundwater. Through research and the use of advanced technologies, the value of the circular economy is sought, with which the concentration of livestock in the territory and possible solutions to the potential environmental impact it generates will be discussed.

2. Presentation of success stories by companies or start-ups

The conference program also includes the exhibition of success stories by companies or startups that demonstrate the importance, possibility and potential of local and regional entrepreneurship.

3. Exhibition spaces with stands and dissemination and demonstration workshops.

The Stress conference will have attractive exhibition spaces through stands where companies, start-ups and other interested parties can exhibit their products, capabilities and innovations, create synergies and opportunities among the participants.

An area of dissemination and demonstration workshops is planned for companies and startups where they can show in a practical and direct way the capacities developed, initiatives launched and useful innovations for the agricultural sector.
