Jornada FUE-UJI

13th National and 4th International Conference in Engineering Thermodynamics

from 29 November to 1 December  2023

Open enrollment period

The 13th National and 4th International Conference on Engineering Thermodynamics (13CNIT) will be held at the Universitat Jaume I between Wednesday 29 November 2023 and Friday 1 December 2023 under the slogan “Advances in Engineering Thermodynamics: The Key to Sustainable Development”.

This congress was first launched in 1999 and has been held every two years since then. In its first editions it was conceived as a national congress, with the idea of generating a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among researchers and university lecturers in the field of Engineering Thermodynamics. Over time, with the success achieved in the first editions, it has opened up to more participants, so that in its last 4 editions it has been internationalised to enhance its impact and increase the number of researchers, lecturers and companies participating, which has led to an enrichment in the exchange of information and relationships that are generated in this type of event.

13CNIT will last three days and will have a conventional format with both an opening and a closing ceremony. Between these two events, the papers will be presented, structured in several parallel sessions in accordance with the themes of the congresses. Prior to the presentation sessions, plenary meetings will be held, where renowned speakers will offer their opinion or give talks on current topics in line with the themes of the congress.

The congress is thus now international, and its main objective is to present and discuss the latest advances in Engineering Thermodynamics. Consequently, the official languages will be English and Spanish, as they are the most widely spoken languages in Europe and America, the places of origin of most of the congress participants.

Thermodynamic engineering is the application of thermodynamics to the development and improvement of materials, equipment, systems and processes, while thermodynamics is the area of physics that studies the properties of matter in its relations to heat, work and temperature. Therefore, this congress will present the latest advances in thermal processes of any kind, covering an extensive field of knowledge. For this reason, in order to group the papers according to an organisational structure, they will be assigned into a series of themes of interest. These themes of interest are:

1. Energy efficiency and sustainability in thermal engineering
2. Energy, exergetic and economic analysis of thermal systems
3. Heat and mass transfer processes
4. Fuels, combustion, pyrolysis and gasification
5. Heat engines and their subsystems
6. Numerical simulation and modelling
7. Refrigeration, thermal comfort and air conditioning
8. Renewable energy, environmental impact and circularity
9. Educational innovation and digital tools
10. Thermophysical properties of materials and fluids
