Following the great success of the previous edition, "Fundación Universidad Jaume I-Empresa", "Escola Superior de Ceràmica de L'Alcora" and "Sociedad Española de cerámica y vidrio" have been proposed to organize a new edition of a "Intensive School" from European Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Thematic Network Association.
Nowadays, and as in the previous edition, the intensive School will be focused on Ceramics: "5th Thematic Intensive School : Ceramic materials 2015". The scheduled activities will last seven days, and will be divided in theory lessons and practice (using a multidisciplinary perspective).
During the last years, a total of 64 students have participated in all scheduled activities. As students have general skills or knowledge (they are not specific in ceramic), the main purpose of the "5th Thematic Intensive School" is to combine through these scientific meetings, technical and artistic components from the ceramic field, in order to improve the knowledge and skills of the participants.
In this edition, as in the last one, lectures and activities will be included in two main groups: ceramic art and scientific-technological issues.
Students will also learn about Spanish ceramic heritage, visiting some museums as Museo de Cerámica "Ruíz de Luna" in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) or Museo de Santa Cruz in Toledo Regarding to scientific-technological aspects, some new ceramics fields, such as ceramic applications in renewable energy (solar energy, solid fuel cells, SOCFs), laser radiation ceramic kilns (environmental and energy savings) will be studied.
