3rd Thematic Intensive School: Ceramic Material
Sorry this content is only available in Spanish. Translation coming soon
The Intensive Schools on Conservation Science are dealing with the physicochemical aspects of cultural heritage preservation, and mainly address 2nd and 3rd cycle science students, as well as active professionals, wishing to acquire a solid knowledge on the ways natural and material sciences are applied in the safeguarding and authentication of tangible works of art.
A multinational team of experts from Erasmus and Tempus countries are delivering theoretical and hands-on lectures on important aspects of conservation science, covering both basic information and research case studies.
The five previous Intensive Schools, organized in the frame of the Lifelong Learning Programme and under the auspices of the European Chemistry Thematic Network, were held at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2006 and 2009, at the University of Palermo, Italy, in 2008, at the Summer University of Saragossa in Teruel, Spain, in July 2010 and at the Marmara University, Turkey in 2011.
The two previous Thematic Intensive Schools were held at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Fez, Morroco and at the DCCI(= Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry), Genoa, Italy.
The 3rd Thematic Intensive School on Conservation Science is focused on Ceramics.
It is a joint initiative of the Euromediterranean Cooperation in Research and Education, the European Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Education Network and the European Chemistry Thematic Network Association.
Besides the courses and seminars, practical sessions combined to short research projects constitute an important part of the learning procedures. In addition, the school is offering a sound expertise in modern education tools; and is providing networking opportunities.
The courses will be held in English.
SUPPORT
Objectives of the course
The main purpose of the "3rd Intensive Thematic School" is to combine through these meetings, technical and artistic components from the ceramic field in order to improve the knowledge and skills of the participants, regarding analysis of raw materials, design and functionality of new products, ceramics’ heritage and application of different ceramic processes that are in a great European importance. At the same time, the young researchers have the opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange with students from Mediterranean countries like Spain, Greece, Italy, France as well as countries from North Africa. The main school activity is addressed not only to students and young European researchers interested in ceramics, but also to professionals in the ceramic field.
