It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rafael Benavent Adrián, President of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation (FUE-UJI) for 25 years and, in recent years, its Honorary President.

 

Born in 1933 in Vall d’Uixó, Rafael Benavent was an example of entrepreneurial spirit and a vision for the future. Founder of emblematic companies such as Keraben, Industrias Químicas Benavent, and Gres de Nules, he left an indelible mark on the business landscape of our province.

 

Throughout his life, he received numerous awards for his career, but what truly distinguished him was his generous dedication to serving others and his profound commitment to Universitat Jaume I.

 

A passionate lover of culture, an avid reader, and a brilliant conversationalist, at FUE-UJI we will remember Rafael Benavent as an approachable, principled, and determined president. His leadership was based on listening, respect, and the conviction that great ideas are born from collaborative work.

 

His commitment to Universitat Jaume I and this Foundation was unwavering: he supported projects, promoted initiatives, and, above all, inspired those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.

 

Today, with deep gratitude and in remembrance, we honor his legacy. He leaves us his example, his enthusiasm, his generosity, and, above all, his firm belief in the transformative power of education.
