Ana Olucha, ASCER representative, was appointed Vice-President and Chair of the Permanent Committee

The Universitat Jaume I- Empresa Foundation (FUE-UJI) has held the meeting of its Board of Trustees at which it has presented the Report of Activities 2024 and the Annual Accounts of the entity.

Eva Alcón, rector of the Universitat Jaume I and president of FUE-UJI, highlighted «the important work carried out by the Foundation in recent months, highlighting its essential collaboration in positioning the Universitat at international level, a positioning that has reached its best levels, in addition to the support for the implementation of university training microcredentials». In addition, Alcón wanted to thank «the collaboration of entities and companies of the Patronato for their support and involvement with UJI». The rector has stressed the importance of a key sector for the province as tourism, highlighting the recently created University Institute of Tourism and the International Congress of Tourism University-Company, which manages the FUE-UJI since 1998.

Sebastian Pla, executive president of the Foundation, reviewed the activities carried out by the entity since the last meeting of the Board and gave way to a video summary of the Report of Activities, where the most significant actions promoted by the various areas have been shown. Pla stressed that «this has been a key exercise to consolidate our mission as a bridge between university knowledge, business and society» and thanked the support of employers' organizations and other organizations linked to FUE-UJI. «The data in this report reflect a solid foundation, connected with the territory and prepared to lead the future. This 2024 we have consolidated our capacity as a strategic partner of the Universitat Jaume I and as an agent of territorial dynamization. The Foundation remains a space of connection, service and shared future,» he said.

During the meeting, Ana Olucha, representative of ASCER, was appointed Vice-President and Chair of the Permanent Committee of the Foundation.

Next, Gloria Serra, manager of the Foundation, reported on the Annual Accounts of the Foundation.

Javier Grandío, secretary of the UJI Social Council and secretary of the FUE-UJI Board of Trustees, also attended the session, which served to give an account of the initiatives and programs developed by the Foundation until 31 December 2024.

Last year’s activities included the accession of l'Ajuntament de l'Alcora and Smalticeram to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, as well as seven meetings with companies and employers within the framework of the FUE-UJI Meeting Hour initiative.

In 2024, among the actions to promote the research offer of the Universitat and to support technology transfer management, FUE-UJI organized, in collaboration with the Vice Rectorate for Innovation, Scientific Transfer and Dissemination, a Transfer Day of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences with presentation of projects and success stories.

In the area of training, FUE-UJI managed 81 training programmes involving more than 836 trainees. Recently, support has been provided to the Vice Rectorate for Studies and Continuing Training in the deployment of the UJI Microcreds Plan. This plan, promoted by the Ministry of Universities, proposes a wide range of actions aimed at developing university microcredentials in Spain over the period 2024-2026. In the case of UJI, this project consists of 25 short-term training actions with different themes and modalities. The Foundation is responsible, through a new management mandate, for the forecasting, promotion, logistics and collaboration in the production of training and in the economic-administrative management of micro credentials.

As regards the UJI Extracurricular Academic Internship Programme, a total of 598 internships were managed, reaching more than 2,890 agreements in force.

During 2024, the FUE-UJI participated in the organization of 13 technical conferences and congresses with a total of 1,214 participants, among which stands out the celebration of the International Congress on University-Enterprise Tourism in itsseventh edition and the XVII Meeting Molecular Biology of Plants, held from 3 to 5 July and led by Vicent Arbona, with more than 400 attendees.

The EUROFUE-UJI office supported the Vice-Rector of Research in organizing the UJI International Science and Innovation Recognition Act, with a tribute to 84 UJI researchers for their participation in European projects since 2014. He also advised on the submission of eight project proposals for calls under the European programmes Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe. It also supported the European positioning of three entities linked to FUE-UJI, through the European funding roadmaps.
