7 th session: successful European practices

The Desayunos de Trabajo Europa 2027, organised by the FUE-UJI, through its Office of European and International Projects (EuroFUE-UJI), has presented to the members of its Board of Trustees cases of good practices in European projects.

In this session of the Desayunos de Trabajo Europa 2027, a cycle of meetings on European financing that has the collaboration of Caixalmassora, the speakers were Amparo Marco, mayor of Castellón, Francisco J. Vea, director of Innovation and New Technologies of Simetría Grupo , Luis Guaita, head of R & D + i of the Victoria Ceramics Spain group and Enrique Sánchez, professor of Chemical Engineering at the UJI and director of the Ceramic Technology University Institute (IUTC-UJI), who have presented different European projects as success stories .

This edition, the seventh of the Europe 2027 Business Breakfast cycle, was opened by Eva Alcón, rector of the Universitat Jaume I  and president of the FUE-UJI, who stressed that “ Europe represents an opportunity to finance actions, plans and programs, as well as scientific projects that make us move towards a more sustainable, intelligent, social and cohesive social and economic model centered on people ”. For this reason, she has defended the importance of aligning institutional and business strategies with this paradigm shift and looking at the EU as an ally "so that the European transformation begins to take root from the local level."

Carlos Cabrera, executive president of the Fundación Universitat Jaume I-Empresa (FUE-UJI), has intervened after the inauguration giving some brushstrokes on the impact of European financing in the province of Castellón. "Participation in European projects must be an indispensable element in the strategy and action of any organization with a vocation towards improving innovation, competitiveness, productivity and territorial convergence," said Cabrera in his speech.

Amparo Marco, mayor of Castellón, has presented the Transforma Castellón project, funded by the Integrated and Sustainable Urban Development Strategy Program (EDUSI). As Marco explained, the project aims to “make Castellón a more accessible, greener and more humane city”.

"PAV-DT focuses on improving the conservation of roads and road pavements", this is how Francisco J. Vea, director of Innovation and New Technologies of Simetría Grupo, has presented the PAV-DT Project, financed within the framework of the European Fast Tract to Innovation (FTI) Program.

In addition, two cases of good practices financed under the European R & D & I framework program Horizon 2020 have been presented. In this case, Luis Guaita, head of R & D & I of the Victoria Ceramics Spain group has presented the ICEBERG Circular Project Economy of Building Materials; while Enrique Sánchez, professor of Chemical Engineering at the UJI and director of the Ceramic Technology University Institute (IUTC-UJI) has presented the REMEB project of the IUTC-UJI.

Next, Gloria Serra, manager of the FUE-UJI, moderated the question time in which the attending Trustees raised their doubts to the speakers about the different projects presented in the session.

The conference was closed by Eva Alcón, rector of the UJI and president of the Fundación Universitat Jaume I-Empresa, who has given special importance in the field of European funding to “the search for synergies between universities, research centers and the business sector ”.

The next appointment of the Europe 2027 Business Breakfasts cycle will be on May 19, with the European Urban Initiative program.
