Castellón Airport has joined the Board of Trustees of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation, in a ceremony held today at the headquarters of the FUE-UJI with the presence of Eva Alcón, rector of the Universitat Jaume I and president of the FUE-UJI; Blanca Marín, general manager of Aerocas, and the executive president of the Foundation, Carlos Cabrera.

During the meeting, the progress made by Castellón Airport through the implementation of a strategy of diversification and comprehensive development of the infrastructure has been highlighted. This is enabling growth in various areas: commercial traffic, industrial activity, training, as well as the attraction of innovative projects linked to the aeronautical and aerospace sectors.

Sebastián Pla, president of the Social Council of the UJI and vice-president of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation; Javier Grandío, secretary of the Social Council of the UJI and of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation; Gloria Serra, manager of the FUE-UJI, and Enrique Vidal, deputy director of Aerocas, attended the event.

The rector of the UJI and president of the FUE-UJI, Eva Alcón, pointed out that "this act visualises the institutional commitment of the Universitat Jaume I and Aerocas to open stable collaboration channels" and thanked its general director, Blanca Marín, for her willingness to "turn the UJI into a priority ally within the diversification and integral development strategy of Castellón airport".

"At the University we have research and technological innovation capabilities that fit in with this commitment to make the airport infrastructures a business, industrial and logistics hub and economic engine for Castellón, as well as for the inland regions," said Alcón.

During the meeting, Blanca Marín stated that the UJI "is the main institution generating knowledge in our territory" and the FUE-UJI "plays a major role as a transmission belt of this knowledge to the business fabric". "That is why it is very important for the airport to strengthen collaboration in research, transfer and innovation," she added.

The Aerocas CEO stressed that the airport shares with the university the objective of contributing to the structuring, revitalisation and economic diversification of the territory, as well as retaining talent through the generation of opportunities.

For his part, Carlos Cabrera expressed the satisfaction "that it means for the Foundation to incorporate a new entity, and to continue adding, and especially in the case of an organisation such as Castellón Airport, an indispensable agent in the provincial socio-economic fabric which, together with the administrations, private companies, the Port Authority, associations and the University itself, completes a cast of trustees representative of the reality of the environment".
