News FUE-UJI
The Network of Foundations now includes 24 institutions from across the country.
The General Foundation of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Leonardo Torres Quevedo Foundation of Cantabria join the REDFUE.
The Spanish Network of University-Business Foundations (REDFUE) has two new members following the incorporation of the General Foundation of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Leonardo Torres Quevedo Foundation of Cantabria as associates. With these new additions, REDFUE now comprises 24 foundations from 16 Autonomous Communities with a common goal: to enhance the transfer of knowledge between the university and business worlds and to promote the training and employability of young Spaniards. The recent General Assembly of RedFUE, the association to which FUEUJI belongs, was attended by Gloria Serra, manager of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation, who is a member of the Executive Committee.
REDFUE was created in 1997 by the University-Business Foundation (FUE) and is a non-profit association declared of public utility, formed by university-business foundations whose objective is to strengthen collaborations between universities, stakeholders in the productive system, and society in general as a guarantee of development and social progress in the areas of employability, training, entrepreneurship, innovation, and knowledge transfer. The new additions took place within the framework of the 66th General Assembly of the Network of University-Business Foundations (REDFUE), held yesterday at the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Madrid. The event was opened by the Secretary General of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Adolfo Díaz-Ambrona, and closed by José Luis Bonet, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. Also speaking at the assembly were Izaskun Lacunza, Director of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and Borja Izquierdo, Director of Innovation for this entity.
During the event, Fernando Martínez, President of REDFUE and Executive Vice President of FUE, highlighted the organic growth the network has experienced since 2024, with the addition of the University-Business Foundations of Alicante, Castellón, and Oviedo, thus consolidating its presence in the Mediterranean region and the northern peninsula. “This momentum continues in 2025 with the recent additions of Cantabria, through the Leonardo Torres Quevedo Foundation, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha Foundation, which reinforces our commitment to broad and diverse regional collaboration, which is key to addressing the challenges of university education and employability,” Martínez noted.
He also highlighted the importance of the collective work being carried out by REDFUE within the framework of the White Paper on International Talent, a strategic project that seeks to offer a shared vision and concrete proposals to attract, train, and retain global talent in our universities and in the business community.
This project aims to analyze the reality of international talent in Spain by collecting relevant data on foreign students currently enrolled in Spanish educational institutions: their qualifications, origins, career expectations, and intention to remain or return. In addition, the international context is being studied to identify best practices and admission models in benchmark countries, which can serve as a basis for proposing well-founded improvements adapted to our environment. For his part, José Luis Bonet reaffirmed the Spanish Chamber of Commerce's shared commitment with REDFUE to strengthen collaboration between universities and businesses as a driver of economic and social development, ensuring a competitive and sustainable economy. "We find ourselves in a time of major transformations and challenges: from the need to attract and retain national and international talent to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship at the core of our educational and productive system. In this context, collaboration between universities and businesses is more strategic than ever, and REDFUE is consolidating its position as an essential player in this alliance," he emphasized. José Luis Bonet also highlighted the importance of the agreement signed in 2024 between the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and REDFUE, which has strengthened mutual collaboration and opened new avenues for joint work.
